Route 196

The other night, E and I caught Juan Pablo Dream in Route 196 along Katipunan Ave. Route 196 is this quirky, hole-in-the wall place that features a lot of bands such as Juan Pablo Dream, The Jerks, Up Dharma Down, The Dawn, Paramita etc. The interiors are warm and cozy and the food is amazing!

E and I ordered El Carne Pizza. I wanted the Cheese and Tinapa Pizza (or something like that, cheese with tinapa flakes) but E is allergic to dairy stuff and I can't wolf down an entire pizza by myself so we got the El Carne Pizza instead. Sarap solid! Worth the 195 pesos. It's thin-crust pizza (my favorite kind!) with all meat toppings - pepperoni, ham, etc. Loveeee it! The beer sells for the low low price of 35 bucks! Or, you can order 3 beers for 100 pesos only! Any place that sells dirt-cheap beer is great in my book. Their other best-sellers include the Margherita Pizza which is also a thin-crust pizza topped with basil, anchovies, tomatoes and mozarella cheese and their chili cheese sticks.

I swiped these beautiful photos from Monica Baretto and clickthecity.com

The whole night was soooo MOD. As in MOD. As in a lot of people were sporting Ben Sherman, Fred Perry, Lonsdale stuff and the band!! I must say, ang galing ng Juan Pablo Dream! They played a lot of Style Council, Paul Weller, some jazz stuff and a whole lot of Motown. Haha! Ahlavett! I really love honest-to-goodness bands that play honest-to-goodness good music. I will never say die to house music, but nothing beats just sitting back with a cold beer, yummy pizza, and listening to good ol funky beats. I have a feeling I will be coming back to the place very soon.

Check out the mod style! I'm beginning to love it. It's stylish and funkyrinkydink. E was wearing this green Ben Sherman jacket, ang gandaaaaa in fairness ha. Told Henry, this friend of his, na I want a Fred Perry shirt. Yung pang babae ha, and I promise I shall wear it the way it's supposed to be worn, with the buttons all closed up.
