Habang nagkakagulo ang Pinas last November 29, guess where I was?
Akon Live in Manila!
Saya!!!! Curfew shmerfew. I shall watch AKON and nobody can stop me. I was with Teri, my future cousin-in-law Ferdi's sister. Ferdi is the hubby-to-be of my cousin Tish. Teri and I aren't actually close but I figured, man, we're going to be family soon anyway, might as well get to know one another. Pucha, nung concert na, wala na! Kalimutan na ang poise poise. "Akooonnnnn I love you!" "At one point, Akon started taking off his clothes. "TAKE.IT.OFF! TAKE.IT.OFF!" all the girls were screaming. Haha all the girls na mukhang pa demure demure pa, dyosko, lumalabas din ang totoong kulay!

"Lemme hear you say, HELL YEAH!!!!!"
And the crowd roars "HELL YEAHHHHH!!!!!"
"Lemme hear you say, HELL YEAHHH!"
"HELL YEAHHHHH!!!"
Can I just say? Ang hot ni Akon! Dude, seryoso, he's hot. Not like Justin Timberlake hot, of course. Parang... African-worker slave hot. Haha. Cannot believe I just said that! Mukha syang bulldog eh, pero wala akong masabi sa katawan nya. His skin is this super dark, chocolatey color and he's really buffed. Strong as an ox. Hahaha. And man, his voice! It's so different and it was so good, especially when he sang this song as a tribute to his African roots. (He's from Senegal, by the way.) Parang African lullaby. Felt like I was in the goddamn Serengeti, standing on a mountain, watching lions and gazelles and zebras disappear into the sunset. Ang ganda, I got goosebumps.

He sang all the crowd favorites, including Don't Matter, Smack That, Bartender, I wanna Love You, and we were all there singing along with him.
"I see you windin and grindin up on the floor/ I know you see me looking at you and you already know/I wanna ---"
"Fuck you!" the crowd gamefully screams.
"That's what I'm sayin! You already know! I wanna- "
"Fuck you!"
Wala naman syang hinump onstage, thank God. I had such a blast. The concert, which was at Araneta Coliseum, ended at 1030. We had to hurry back so we can get home in time for the curfew. Teri lives in Makati pa kasi and we had to find her a cab pa. Apparently, the whole world had the same idea. We were stuck for half an hour sa parking area of Gateway pa lang. Traffic everywhere! Hahaha! Shiyetttt. "Potaaahhh bilis! Kelangan na namin umuwi!" Hehe betcha everyone was saying the same thing. Concert palang our families were like "Hoy, kayong dalawa, make sure you're both home before 12! Wag kayong tatawag na nasa presinto na kayo, hindi namin kayo susunduin!" At one point, my cousin Tish was texting me every minute already, daig pa nanay ko. "Mela, you better get your ass home right now I'm not kidding." So sige, kaskasera galore. Sorry, pahirapan lang talaga, gotta make this Trooper fly!!!
All the hassle was worth it. And if you're wondering if we made it home in time, yep, we did. Clocked in at 11:40. Whew!
